July 2011 – Watershed MomentsWatershed Awareness Month is a series of educational and watershed awareness activities and events across Dutchess County including creek and watershed cleanups, guided nature walks, canoe and kayak trips, lectures, festivals and other events. The events take place primarily during the month of July and in the towns of Hyde Park, Millbrook, Pawling, Pleasant Valley, Poughkeepsie, Union Vale, Dover, the Village of Wappingers Falls and Cities of Beacon and Poughkeepsie.
This year, the Dutchess Watershed Coalition is asking residents to share their Watershed Moments as part of this year’s theme for Dutchess Watershed Awareness Month. A watershed moment is often defined as “a critical turning point” or “a moment when everything changes.” This year’s theme will encourage residents to share and create new moments experiencing the awe of the water and land resources around them. In addition to the rain barrel workshops, events will include stream, bird and nature walks, seminars on green infrastructure and much more.
Check our facebook page or the Dutchess Watershed Awareness Month website for the latest event updates and photos.
